MORETON ISLAND EDUCATIONAL & RECREATIONAL CAMPS
Our Camp Venue
Campers are accommodated in continental style tents with floors and insect screens. Tents are grouped under large shade tarpaulins for complete weather protection and range in size from 2 to 6 persons. Each camper is supplied with a comfortable stretcher - byo bedding (ie: sleeping bags or Blankets, Sheets and pillows).
Teachers and supervisors for School groups are provided with their own tent for their individual privacy and are set aside from the main group.
Lighting is distributed to tents and camp surrounds by a 240v generator and 12v sytems - 24hrs
Meals are taken in a large dining marquee, seating and tables for up to 120 people, which also doubles as the recreational area for evening camp activites. The camp has adequate undercover areas in the event of inclement weather.
The camp has its own hot water system for use in the kitchen and wash up area. Showers in the ablutions are cool water which is pleasant enough in summer, however we make limited hot water available for showers in the cooler months.
The camp operates under a Commercial Tour Operators Permit issued by the Queensland Dept. of Environment and covers all relevant fees, consents and public liability insurances.
All vehicles operate under current Operator Accreditation issued by Qld. Transport covering passenger transport regulations. Vehicles are equipped with seat belts. Driver Authorization Licenses are held by all drivers and all staff hold Blue Card Accreditation as issued by the Dept. of Childrens Services.
First Aid stations are located in the village of Bulwer within walking distance of the camp, and at Tangalooma and Kooringal. Any emergencies are dealt with by the full time ambulance service and bearer based on Moreton Island, Careflight Helicopters Medivac Services, the State Emergency Service, Air Sea Rescue and Coastguard Organisations. Bulwer boasts a "state of the art" Helipad and a very comprehensive fire and emergency support facility.
The camp and all activities comply with Workplace Health and Safety issues covering the Qld. Dept. of Educations Risk Assessment criteria.
